Coconut oil is one of the few oils that gets inside the hair shaft rather than sitting on top, which is why it turns up in so many curl products. Curl Boss is built around it in a gelee format, somewhere between a gel and a jelly: firm enough to define, wet enough to spread.
The range it covers is unusually wide. Loose waves at 2a and tight coils at 4a both get definition out of it, because the hold is set by how much you use rather than fixed by the formula.
Apply to wet hair, working through one part at a time. Rake it in, then shingle or scrunch depending on the finish you want. It dries with a cast, and you scrunch that out once the hair is bone dry.

Application tips
Soaking wet hair, always.
Work in parts no wider than your hand, smoothing the gelee down each one so every strand is coated, then shingling or scrunching depending on the finish you are after. Do not go back and fiddle once a part is done. Air dry or diffuse until no dampness is left, then break the cast with oiled hands.
Results
Definition is the strong point.
Curls dry in clean, separated clumps that hold their shape through the day, and the cast breaks into softness rather than crunch. Coconut oil in the base stops the hair going dry underneath the hold. It scales with quantity, so a light hand supports loose waves and a heavier one holds tight coils together.
