A dry scalp usually comes down to moisture rather than to anything more complicated, and a conditioner that reaches the scalp as well as the lengths is the simplest place to start. AtOne With Nature built this one around Moroccan argan oil and a blend of plant extracts.
Argan is light enough to sit on the scalp without going greasy, which is why it is the right oil for this job. Massaged in, it softens the feel of dryness and leaves the skin comfortable rather than tight after a wash. On the lengths it conditions normally, so hair comes out soft and combs through easily.
The 8 oz bottle is a standard wash-day size. Use it after shampoo, work it into the scalp with fingertips rather than nails, and rinse well.

Application tips
Two jobs at once here, so split the application. Half goes on the lengths, combed through and left to sit.
The other half goes on the scalp, applied along partings and massaged in slow circles for a minute or two. Leave both in while you finish in the shower. Rinse for longer than feels necessary, especially at the roots.
Results
Two problems, one rinse. The dry, itchy sensation eases rather than building through the week, and the skin at the roots comes out comfortable instead of papery.
The lengths condition normally, so hair combs out easily and dries soft. There is no greasiness at the root afterwards, which is the usual price of an oil rich conditioner.
