Rice water has been in hair routines for centuries, and fermented rice water is what As I Am has built this conditioner on. The interest in it is about strength: amino acids and vitamins that leave the strand less likely to snap under a comb.

That matters more than it sounds. Most people lose length at the ends rather than failing to grow it, so anything that cuts breakage shows up as hair that stays longer.

  • Strengthens the strand and reduces breakage
  • Improves elasticity, so hair stretches instead of splitting
  • Hydrates dry, dull curls and coils
  • Adds slip for detangling after a wash
  • 8 oz bottle

Use it after shampoo, through the lengths, and leave it a few minutes before rinsing. Suits curly, coily and wavy hair, and it is a sensible pick if your ends have started looking thin and wispy.

Application tips

Squeeze the excess water out after shampooing, otherwise this goes on diluted and slides off. Lengths and ends only.

Clip the hair up, give it three to five minutes, and detangle while it is still in. Finish with a cool rinse. Once a week is the sensible frequency for a strengthening conditioner, since every wash can leave fine hair feeling stiff.

Results

Limp, soft hair firms up and holds a style better. Wet strands take tension without that immediate give that means something is about to break.

Dull lengths catch a bit more light once dry. It leaves hair feeling clean and defined rather than coated, so a gel or cream on top still grips properly.

Composition

Fermented Rice Water
Firms up soft, limp strands so they take tension without giving
Amino Acids
Work on the strand itself, which is where breakage starts
