Scalp products for textured hair usually come as oils, and oils are not always what a scalp wants. A serum is lighter, sinks in faster, and does not leave the roots looking wet, which is the whole reason As I Am made this a 2 oz serum rather than another bottle of grease.

It is built for wash-day comfort more than anything. The tight, itchy scalp that shows up a few days after washing, particularly under a low-manipulation style, is the thing it is answering.

  • Calms the feel of a dry, tight scalp between washes
  • Reduces the look of dry flaking around the parts
  • Light texture, so roots keep their volume
  • Fits low-manipulation routines where you cannot rewash often

Apply it directly to the scalp along the parts, not to the hair, and massage briefly. It sits alongside the rest of the Long & Luxe range but works perfectly well on its own. Suits wavy, curly and coily hair, including type 2 and type 3 textures that go oily at the roots and dry at the ends.

Application tips

Part dry or barely damp hair into rows about an inch apart and apply straight to the exposed scalp, not to the hair. A few drops per row.

Massage with the pads of your fingers for a minute so it spreads under the parting. Two or three times a week suits most people. Nothing to rinse, and it works under braids and twists.

Results

Between washes the scalp holds its comfort for a couple of days per application, rather than tightening up by the next morning.

Roots feel softer to handle, so parting and re-styling pulls less. At 2 oz this is a targeted product rather than an all over one, and the small amount you need per session means the bottle lasts.
