If Cleansing Pudding is already in your rotation, the 16 ounce size is the one that makes sense. Dense or long hair gets through the smaller one quickly, because a co-wash is meant to be used generously.

Same formula throughout. A thick, sulfate-free cleansing conditioner for curly, coily and kinky hair, with enough slip to detangle while it is still on.

  • Cleans without a detergent, so moisture stays put
  • Thick enough to hold on the section instead of running off
  • Detangles under the water, which cuts comb time down
  • Leaves the curl pattern defined rather than fluffed

Apply in four sections and work it in with the pads of your fingers along the scalp. Rinse for longer than feels necessary. Under-rinsing is the most common reason people decide co-washing does not suit them.

Application tips

A co-wash needs volume, which is the argument for the larger tub. Two or three scoops for dense hair, applied section by section on soaking wet hair.

Fingertips at the roots, then smooth the rest down the lengths. Leave it in while you wash the rest of you. Rinse thoroughly. If your roots feel coated afterwards, you rinsed too fast rather than used too much.

Results

Scalp clean, lengths conditioned, which is the trade a co-wash makes and the reason people stay with it. Build-up and grime lift away without the natural oils going too. Curls stay supple through the wash and clump properly as they dry. On coily hair that turns brittle after a lather shampoo, this makes a gentler weekly routine.

The full INCI is printed on the pack. We publish it here as soon as the brand supplies it, and we will read it off the bottle for you if you ask.
