Garlic in a hair mask is a hard sell until you know it has been deodorised. American Dream use an odourless Italian garlic extract, Allium Sativum, so the only thing it brings to the bathroom is what it does to the hair fibre.
Wheat protein does the visible work alongside it. Protein improves elasticity by controlling the rate at which moisture escapes the hair fibre, and hair that holds its moisture bends instead of snapping. That is the difference between a comb-through that leaves your hair on your head and one that leaves it on the bathroom floor.

Application tips
Shampoo first, squeeze the water out, then take a generous amount and work it through the lengths and ends section by section.
Roots do not need it. Comb through so it reaches everywhere, cover with a cap and give it fifteen to twenty minutes, longer with gentle heat. Rinse well. Once a week is the rhythm, and more often on hair that has been coloured or bleached.
Results
Combing after the rinse is the first sign: fewer strands left in the teeth, less resistance through the mid-lengths. Hair feels denser and less papery to the hand, and the ends stop looking frayed at the edges. This builds slowly over a run of washes rather than arriving all at once. The garlic smell does not survive the rinse.
