Set your expectations on the lather first. This is SLS-free and low foam, so it will not whip up the way a supermarket shampoo does. That is a formulation choice rather than a fault, and the hair is being cleaned either way. People who switch and assume nothing is happening usually just need to rinse and go again.
The ingredient list is more interesting than most. Akaat extract from doum palm fruit, prickly pear, aloe vera, black castor oil, tamarind extract and shea butter, with decyl glucoside doing the actual cleansing and mint in the scent. Hair comes out feeling hydrated rather than squeaky.
It arrives in a 500 ml (16.9 oz) pump bottle, which is a practical format for a shared bathroom and large enough that you are not reordering monthly.

Application tips
Expect less foam than you are used to. Without SLS the lather is modest, and that is not a sign it has failed, so resist adding three more pumps. Wet the hair right through, work two pumps into the scalp in rows, and let it move down the lengths as you rinse. A wide-tooth comb through the second lather helps the shampoo reach the roots in dense hair. Go again if the hair still feels coated. Rinse thoroughly.
Results
A gentle wash rather than a stripping one, which suits textured hair that loses too much to a high-foaming cleanser. Hair comes out clean but still hydrated, and the lengths feel nourished instead of squeaky. Prickly pear, aloe vera and shea butter condition through the wash while black castor oil handles the drier ends. Two washes leave the scalp clean without the tightness a foaming cleanser tends to leave behind. The 500ml pump covers a lot of wash days.
