Two things separate the castor oil in this range from the argan and coconut versions: weight, and where you put it.
Castor is the heaviest of the three, and it belongs on the scalp, the hairline and the ends rather than raked through a whole head. That weight is useful on coily and kinky textures, which is exactly what the 4 oz bottle is aimed at. Tightly coiled hair loses moisture fastest at the ends and takes the most tension at the edges, and a thick oil stays where you put it in both places.
What it does is condition heavily and cut down the breakage that comes from dry strands under a comb or a tight style. Hair that stops snapping holds its length, which on slow-growing textures is the difference that shows up over a year rather than a week.
Use it as a scalp oil between washes, on the edges and nape, or worked into the ends before a protective style. A small amount, warmed first, placed rather than poured.
Made for 3b through 4c. Fine or wavy hair will find it too heavy, and the argan version in the same range is the lighter alternative.
