Africa's Best Originals Honey And Castor Edge Gel 4oz
Edge gel gets judged on two things: whether it holds through the day and whether it flakes while doing it. Honey and castor is a sensible pairing for both, honey for the pliability and castor oil for conditioning the fine hair at the hairline that gives up first.
It lays baby hairs into a sharp, polished line and dries quickly without going sticky or stiff. The same gel works further back too, defining curls and giving them a bit more shape than they would hold unassisted.
Being gentle at the hairline matters more than people allow for. Edges are the most fragile hair on the head, and a product that lets you smooth them without pulling is one that helps keep them where they are.
4oz jar. Made for type 3 and type 4 textures.

Application tips
Edges take a small amount, smaller than the tub invites.
Dampen the hairline with a spray bottle, then press a fingertip of gel along the line and shape it with a soft bristle brush, working outward from the parting. Tie a silk scarf over the top for fifteen minutes while you finish the rest. Brushing the same edges twice a day will wear them down.
Results
The hairline lies where you put it and stays there through wind and a bus journey.
There is no tacky film under a scarf and nothing white on your forehead by the afternoon. Baby hairs keep a soft shine rather than a wet plastic one. On the rest of the head a small amount defines a curl without gluing it shut.
