African Pride Olive Miracle Growth Sheen 8oz
The ingredient list on African Pride's Olive Miracle Growth Sheen is the reason to pick it over a plain shine spray. Olive oil, shea butter, jojoba, coconut and avocado oils carry the conditioning, with rosemary, horsetail and ginseng extracts and a little tea tree oil in the mix. It comes out of an aerosol can as a fine, non greasy sheen.
Its job is the cuticle. Sealing that surface is what brings the shine back on dry, dull hair, and it is also what cuts down on breakage and split ends further along the strand. Daily use is the point rather than the exception, since a few sprays is all it takes.
- Adds shine to dry, dull hair without a greasy weight
- Helps reduce breakage and split ends along the lengths
- Conditions with olive, shea, jojoba, coconut and avocado
- Light enough to use every day on natural or relaxed hair
Hold the can 10 to 12 inches from the hair, mist lightly, then style. Going in closer than that is what leaves a wet patch on one side of the head and nothing on the other, and it is the most common reason people decide an aerosol sheen is too heavy for them. The can is 8oz and it lasts, because a few sprays genuinely is the correct dose rather than a manufacturer being cautious.

Application tips
Aerosols reward distance. Hold the can about a foot from the head and move it while you spray, or the oil lands in one wet patch and the rest of the hair gets nothing. Two or three short bursts is usually the whole job. Spray the lengths rather than the roots, run your fingers through, and style as normal. Shake before you start.
Results
Dull, dry hair picks up light again, and the finish is dry to the touch rather than greasy, which is the difference between a sheen spray and an oil. Smoothing the outside of the strand is also what keeps ends from splitting and short pieces from snapping off. Enough conditioning oils in the mix that daily use adds softness rather than a coating.
