African Pride Black Castor Miracle Braid, Loc & Twist Gel 8oz
Black castor oil in a styling gel, aimed at the styles that live longest on the head. Braids, locs and twists all go fuzzy at the roots after a week or two, and this is what smooths them back down.
It flattens flyaways and takes the frizz off a braid without stiffening it, so a style that is three weeks old reads as tidy rather than tired. Shine comes back with it, and shine is usually the first thing a protective style loses.
The practical effect is that you get more wear out of an install before you feel the need to redo it.

Application tips
Damp hair holds a retwist better than dry or soaking. Take a small scoop, work it into the new growth only, then roll the section between the palms and clip it until it sets.
Put the product on the brush rather than on the hair when you are smoothing a braid down. Sit under a dryer or wrap a scarf over the top while it dries, or the roots lift again.
Results
Partings come back clean and the new growth lies down flat against the scalp, so a style that has grown out reads as deliberate rather than overdue.
Locs feel denser between the fingers and hold their cylinder shape. Twists keep their spiral to the tip rather than unravelling, and the whole head picks up a low sheen that photographs better than it looks in a mirror.
