Pair it with a conditioner or a treatment. A nourishing shampoo does useful work, but it is still a rinse-out cleanser, and the real moisture in any routine comes from the step after it.

Application tips
Dilute it. A capful in a bottle of warm water spreads over a whole scalp far better than neat shampoo, and you use half as much per wash.
Scalp only, in sections, with the pads of the fingers. The lengths get cleaned by whatever runs down them during the rinse. Once a week is enough for most chemically treated hair.
Results
The scalp comes clean without the hair paying for it. Lengths keep their moisture through the wash instead of going brittle and squeaky the moment the water hits them.
Hair is soft enough to finger detangle straight out of the shower, and the shine that dryness had flattened comes back. Colour treated lengths hold their tone longer for not being stripped every wash.
