Brilliance is built light for that reason. It protects colour and adds shine without leaving anything on the strand for gravity to work on, so fine hair keeps its volume and normal hair gets hydrated without going flat. The shine is a cuticle effect. Colour-treated hair has a roughened surface that scatters light and reads as dull, and smoothing it down is what brings the reflection back and slows the fade at the same time.

Application tips
Wring the water out of your hair before this goes on. A light conditioner put onto a dripping head arrives diluted and does very little.
A ten pence piece is plenty on fine hair. Keep it off the roots and draw it through the ends with your fingers. A litre bottle is awkward over a basin, so a pump head, or decanting into something smaller, makes the daily amount far easier to judge.
