Virgin coconut oil is extracted without heat or chemicals, and that is the difference between this and the refined coconut oil on a supermarket shelf. Application tips
Coconut oil works best given time. Section dry hair, coat the lengths generously, twist each section away and cover with a cap for an hour or leave it overnight.
Shampoo twice afterwards, because one wash leaves a residue that flattens the roots. Between washes, a smaller amount rubbed into the ends is enough. Scoop with a clean spoon rather than fingers so the tub keeps.
Results
Hair that comes out of a wash feeling flexible instead of squeaky. The oil settles inside the strand instead of sitting on the surface, so a pre-wash soak leaves the lengths less brittle by the time they dry.
