No.9 is the leave-in in the Olaplex range, and the simplest way to think about it is as the step that guards the work the other numbers have done. It is a serum rather than a cream, silicone-free, and it goes on damp hair before you style.
Two protections run at once. The antioxidant side takes on pollution, and Olaplex put a 48 hour figure on that. The heat side covers you to 232C, so straighteners and tongs are not going in unprotected. Bond Building Technology sits underneath both.

Application tips
Damp hair, before anything else goes on. A couple of pumps for shoulder length, more if your hair is thick, warmed between the palms and pressed through the lengths rather than raked.
Get it onto the ends properly, since that is where the tongs spend longest. Then comb, dry and style as usual. It layers under a cream or a gel without pilling, so it can sit first in a curly routine.
Results
The finish is dry to the touch rather than slick, and the hair moves instead of hanging in strands. Static drops off, which matters between October and March when a hat undoes a whole morning of styling.
Since nothing is coating the hair, it does not accumulate across the week and go dull the way a silicone serum can.
