Mielle Avocado & Tamanu Anti-Frizz Stay Straight Serum 6oz
Silk press days fall apart in two places: humidity on the walk home, and the hair reverting before the evening. This 6oz serum is the second layer, the one that goes on after your leave-in and blow-dry, before the iron.
The odd instruction on the pack is worth following. Mielle call it Cold Application Technology, and the advice is to keep the bottle in the fridge and apply it cold. Refrigeration is recommended rather than required, so it still works at room temperature.
Ingredients are short and readable: sweet almond oil, castor oil, avocado oil, tamanu seed oil, and hemisqualane, the plant-derived stand-in for silicone that does most of the smoothing. Avocado oil and hemisqualane handle frizz, castor oil brings the shine, tamanu conditions the scalp. No silicones, parabens, sulfates, paraffins, mineral oil or DEA.

Shake before use, then work a dime-sized amount from root to end and comb it through, adjusting for your length and density.

Application tips
Between the blow-dry and the iron, never on wet hair. A few drops warmed between the palms, then stroked down each section from the mid-length to the ends before the plates go near it.
Keep it off the roots. Work in the same sections you intend to press, and add a single drop to the ends afterwards if the tips still look dry.
Results
A press holds its shape for days longer than it would bare, and the walk home in damp air stops being the thing that undoes it. Hair looks glassy rather than oily and swings properly when you move. The ends stay sealed and do not split into a fringe of frizz, and reversion, when it comes, arrives gradually instead of all at once.
