The formula pairs those filters with red peony extract, and L'Oreal's claim is up to ten weeks of held colour. That figure comes from their own testing, so read it as a best case rather than a guarantee. The mechanism behind it is sound enough: a conditioned cuticle lying flat holds pigment better than a rough one, and a UV filter takes some of the load off the dye itself.
It conditions properly while doing that, so hair comes out soft, shiny and easy to comb rather than squeaky. Anyone with highlights or a full colour will get more from it than someone using it out of habit, and it works best at every wash rather than now and then.
