Golden Queen is a light fluid rather than an oil, and it absorbs fast enough to use on dry hair as the last step before you leave the house. What it does is smooth the cuticle so light reflects evenly instead of scattering, which is what the eye reads as gloss. That same smoothing settles flyaways and keeps frizz from lifting through a blow-dry, so it earns its place on a wash day as well as on a third-day refresh.
There is also a light barrier against UV, pollution and heat styling. That part matters most if you colour your hair, since sun and heat are what turn a fresh tone brassy inside a month.
The bottle is 120 ml, generous for something you use a few drops of at a time. Warm it between your palms, then press it through the mid-lengths and ends rather than the roots. Application tips
Three or four drops for shoulder-length hair, six if it is long or thick, and no more than that. Too much and the shine tips into looking greasy. On wet hair, put it on before the dryer so the heat has something to work through. On dry hair, rub it into your hands until they feel almost empty, then skim your palms over the surface and along the ends.
Results
Hair looks glossier from a distance and stays soft close up, which is the harder half of what a shine serum has to do. Flyaways lie down along the parting. Frizz stays put through a humid afternoon. It is light enough that fine hair keeps its movement, a blow-dry finishes smoother than it would without it, and nothing feels tacky once it has sunk in.
