Static and tangling are friction problems. When the cuticle is open and rough, hairs catch on each other, and every pass of a comb makes it worse.

Dexe's keratin conditioner works on closing that surface down. Keratin fills the gaps along the cuticle so the strand lies flatter, which cuts the friction between hairs and takes the static out. The practical result is a comb that moves through in one pass, and hair that stays smooth rather than lifting away from itself an hour later.

It is aimed at hair that is dry, colour-treated or damaged, and it is a professional-strength formula rather than a mild everyday one. Use it on the lengths and ends, leave it a few minutes so the protein has time to sit, and rinse well.

The 900ml pump bottle is built for regular use and shared bathrooms. At that size you can afford to be generous, which is how a conditioner like this actually earns its keep.

Application tips

Apply it as a sheet rather than in dabs. Pump into your palm, press both hands together, and lay it across the lower two thirds of the hair in one pass.

Leave it there while you do everything else in the shower. Detangle with it still on, working from the ends toward the roots, then rinse. A cool final rinse keeps the cuticle lying flat and holds the smoothness in.

Results

Static stops. Hair that used to lift and cling after drying sits down instead, and the flyaways round the parting settle.

A comb goes through in one movement rather than three. Colour-treated lengths feel less porous and rough to the touch. It is a substantial conditioner, so very fine hair should use a light hand and keep it well away from the roots.
