Design Essentials Almond & Avocado Honey & Shea Edge Tamer 3.7oz
The hairline is the thinnest, most fragile hair on your head, and most edge gels treat it as though it is not. They grip hard, dry out, then flake and take the baby hairs with them.
This one holds firm and conditions at the same time. Honey is a humectant, so it pulls moisture in and keeps the edges soft while they are laid. Shea butter softens and protects the hair itself. The hold lasts a full day on even resistant edges, and the finish is shiny rather than crusty, with no flaking, no build-up and no white residue as it dries.
The difference between an edge product that conditions and one that only holds shows up over months rather than days. Edges kept moisturised under the hold sit better and break less, which is why honey and shea are in here instead of a straight polymer gel.
Use it on sleek buns, slicked ponytails, braided styles and any protective look that needs a clean hairline. Smooth it on with a fingertip or an edge brush, then tie a scarf down for a few minutes while it sets.
3.7oz. Made for curly and coily textures.

Application tips
Edges lie down best when they are slightly damp, so mist the hairline first. Scrape a small amount out with a fingertip, warm it, and press it flat along the hairline rather than dragging it.
Shape with an edge brush in short strokes, then tie a satin scarf over the hairline for a few minutes while it sets. Keep the amount small, because too much product is what causes flaking later.
Results
Baby hairs stay where you put them, including the coarse ones at the temples that usually lift within the hour. The hold lasts through a full day and survives a gym session.
The finish is glossy rather than wet-looking, and it stays clear. No white flakes at the hairline by the afternoon, no crusty ridge when you brush it out, and the hair underneath still feels soft rather than stiffened.
Composition
- Honey
- Draws moisture into the hairline so edges stay soft under the hold
