Design Essentials African Chebe Anti-Breakage Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner 12oz
Chebe is a length retention tradition, not a growth one. The powder is worked through the hair and left there to keep the ends from snapping off, which over months shows up as hair that reaches further than it used to.
Design Essentials has taken that idea into a lightweight leave-in. The formula deposits strengthening fibres along the strand and seals the cuticle, so moisture stays in and the hair holds together better under a comb. On textured hair prone to single-strand knots and mid-shaft snapping, that is the useful combination.
- Reduces breakage during detangling and daily handling
- Seals moisture in without weighing curls down
- Improves definition and keeps frizz down through the day
- Cuts detangling time considerably on dense hair
The 12oz bottle covers a lot of wash days because you use it in thin layers rather than by the handful. Apply to damp hair after washing, section by section, then style as usual. It sits between washing and styling rather than replacing either.
We list the full INCI where the brand supplies it. For this one it is not on file yet, so the pack is the reliable source. If you need to check an ingredient before you buy, message us and we will read it off the bottle.

Application tips
Towel-blot until the hair has stopped dripping, then part it into four and take each quarter in smaller strips. Smooth the leave-in down the strand rather than raking upwards, so the cuticle lies flat and the fibres settle along the length instead of bunching at the root.
Follow with your usual cream, gel or oil while the hair is still wet. Mid-week, a little more on the ends alone is usually enough. Avoid the scalp, and avoid piling on more when the hair already feels slick.
Results
The first thing you notice is the comb. Where it used to snag and stall through the middle of a section, it keeps moving, and far less hair collects in the teeth.
Dry, the finish is soft rather than coated, with curls sitting defined and frizz staying flat into the evening. Over a few months the ends are the giveaway. They hold their shape instead of thinning out, so length that used to snap off is still on your head.
Composition
- Chebe
- Coats the strand and holds it together, so less snaps off during handling
