Hair mayonnaise is a naming convention rather than a recipe. It describes a thick, emulsified deep conditioner with roughly the consistency of the thing it is named after, dense enough to stay where you put it instead of sliding off the section while you work.

Application tips
Wash first, then towel the hair until it stops dripping.
Take a heaped scoop, spread it between the palms, and pack it onto sections from the ends up, coating rather than combing. Cover with a cap and give it half an hour, or sit under a bonnet dryer if you have one. Rinse thoroughly, then follow with a light conditioner to close everything down. Once a week is plenty.

Hair that had gone rough and dull comes out heavier, smoother and far easier to get a comb through, and the improvement holds for several days instead of washing straight off.
