African Pride across moisture and styling

One brand, five distinct ranges

African Pride is not a single formula in different bottles. It runs five clear lines, and picking the right line matters more than picking the right product inside it.

Olive Miracle is the oldest and best known, built around olive oil for everyday moisture and shine. Moisture Miracle is the newer natural-hair line with heavier creams and firmer gels. Black Castor Miracle covers braids, twists and locs. Peppermint, Rosemary and Sage is the strengthening range. Dream Kids is for children.

Picking a range for your hair

If your hair is relaxed, blow-dried or heat styled, Olive Miracle covers most of what you need. The Leave-In Conditioner comes in a 15oz bottle, the Heat Protection and Shine Mist handles blow-dry days, and the Foam Setting Mousse works for wraps and sets.

If your hair is natural and thirsty, Moisture Miracle is the stronger option. The Curl Milk and Detangler at 12oz, the Gel N' Cream and the Curl Defining Gel are the three most people build a wash-and-go around. Both Max Hold Styling Gels come in 18oz tubs, which is a lot of gel for the money.

Peppermint, Rosemary and Sage is a four piece set: shampoo, masque, oil and balm. Reach for it when hair feels weak and snappy rather than simply dry.

A wash day built from African Pride

Cleanse with the Peppermint, Rosemary and Sage Shampoo or a co-wash. Follow with the matching 12oz Strengthening Masque or the Olive Miracle Strengthening Treatment. Rinse, then apply a leave-in while the hair is still properly wet.

Style from there. Curl Milk and Detangler through the lengths, then a gel for hold. Finish edges with Olive Miracle Super Hold and Smooth Edges or the Moisture Miracle Edge Styling Wax. Between washes, the 12oz Olive Miracle Moisture Restore Curl Refresher brings curls back without a full rewet.

Braids, locs and protective styles

Black Castor Miracle Braid, Loc and Twist Gel in the 8oz tub is the one to reach for on an install. It grips without the crunch of a hard gel, and it does not leave a white residue on synthetic hair.

The Black Castor Miracle Moisture Restore Treatment in the 2oz size works well as a travel or top-up option between wash days.

Hard water and British humidity

Anyone washing in London or the south-east is dealing with hard water, and African Pride's richer creams show build-up faster than lighter brands. Clarify monthly and the range behaves.

Through a summer at 75 to 90 percent humidity, the Max Hold gels earn their name. In winter, when indoor air sits near 30 percent, swap toward the heavier Moisture Miracle creams and the Olive Miracle Deep Conditioning Treatment.

Questions

African Pride questions, answered

What is the difference between Olive Miracle and Moisture Miracle?
Olive Miracle is the lighter everyday line built on olive oil, and suits relaxed or heat styled hair. Moisture Miracle is richer and aimed at natural, textured hair, with heavier creams and firmer gels such as the 18oz Max Hold Styling Gel.
Is African Pride suitable for 4c hair?
The Moisture Miracle line is a good fit. The Curl Milk and Detangler, Gel N' Cream and Curl Defining Gel all have enough slip and weight for dense coils. Olive Miracle products can feel too light on 4c unless you layer them.
Which African Pride gel holds strongest?
The Moisture Miracle Max Hold Styling Gels, available with Olive Oil and Tea Tree or with Black Castor and Jojoba, both in 18oz tubs. For an install, the Black Castor Miracle Braid, Loc and Twist Gel grips well without going hard.
Is Dream Kids only for children?
It is formulated for children's hair, which is finer and more delicate. Adults with fine hair sometimes prefer the Dream Kids Leave-In Conditioner for that reason, and the Smooth Edges gel is a gentle option for a fragile hairline.
What is the Peppermint, Rosemary and Sage range for?
Strengthening. It is a four piece set of shampoo, masque, oil and balm, aimed at hair that snaps rather than hair that simply feels dry. Use the masque weekly and the 4oz oil on the scalp between washes.
Can I use African Pride on locs?
Yes. Black Castor Miracle Braid, Loc and Twist Gel is the obvious pick, and it leaves no white cast. Keep amounts light on mature locs, since heavy gels take a long time to rinse out of a dense loc.
Are these products heavy on fine hair?
The Moisture Miracle creams can be. Start with Olive Miracle instead, and apply to the mid-lengths and ends rather than the roots. The Olive Miracle Heat Protection and Shine Mist is one of the lightest things in the range.
Do you stock the Dream Kids relaxer?
The Dream Kids No-Lye Relaxer Touch-Up in regular strength is listed. Relaxers are chemical products, so read the instructions in full, follow the timings exactly, and never apply over a scalp with any broken skin.
What should I use before blow-drying?
African Pride Olive Miracle Heat Protection and Shine Mist in the 4oz bottle is built for it. Mist onto damp hair before drying rather than onto dry hair, and keep the dryer moving so heat does not concentrate on one section.
How do I refresh curls on day three?
Olive Miracle Moisture Restore Curl Refresher in the 12oz bottle does it without a full rewet. Mist section by section, smooth with your palms, and add a little gel only where definition has dropped, usually the crown and the front.
Does African Pride build up in hard water?
The richer creams and the 18oz gels can, particularly in London and the south-east where mineral content is high. A clarifying wash once a month clears it. Hair feels coated well before the build-up becomes visible.
What sizes do the tubs and bottles come in?
They vary by line. Leave-in conditioners run 8oz to 15oz, gels come in 6oz jars up to 18oz tubs, and treatments include 1.5oz and 2oz travel sizes. Each product page lists its exact size.
