African Pride Moisture Miracle Pre-Shampoo 12oz
A pre-shampoo goes on before the wash, not after it. The idea is to get slip and moisture into the hair while it is dry or damp, so the shampoo has less to strip and the detangling is already done before a comb comes anywhere near.
African Pride's version uses aloe vera and coconut water. Both are light, both hold water, and neither leaves the coating a heavy oil pre-poo can leave behind on finer curls.
In practice it turns a wash day around. Tangles come out on dry hair with fingers, the shampoo step gets shorter, and the hair going into conditioner is in better shape than it would otherwise have been.
Apply in sections, leave it in while you get everything else ready, then shampoo as usual. The 12oz bottle suits 2a through 3c coils and curls.

Application tips
The clue is in the name: this goes on before the shampoo, never after. Work it through dry or damp hair in four sections, concentrating on the ends and any matted patches near the nape. Finger-detangle each section and twist it loosely to keep it separated. Then shampoo over the top and rinse everything out together. Detangling here means far less of it later.
