The ME+ part refers to the dye molecule Wella uses in place of PPD and PTD. Wella's claim for it is a reduced risk of clients developing a new allergy to hair colourants, and it is the reason a lot of salons moved their whole colour bar across. Performance did not change with it. Coverage still runs up to 100% on grey, and the tones stay pure rather than pulling brassy.
Reds also need the most honest conversation before the service starts. Pigment size is why they fade first and no formula changes that, so the maintenance plan matters as much as the shade choice.

Application tips
Reds need a clean canvas and an honest starting level, so check the natural base before you pick the shade. Mix with the appropriate Welloxon Perfect developer at Wella's stated ratio and apply to dry, unwashed hair. Roots first on a virgin head, mid-lengths and ends in the last stretch. An allergy alert test is required before every service, ME+ or not.
Results
Red is the fastest fading family in the colour chart, and this one holds its saturation longer than most because the pigment goes in pure rather than fighting an unwanted undertone. Grey covers to the root. The finish is reflective rather than flat, so the depth changes as the head moves. ME+ is Wella's answer to the allergy question that follows permanent colour around.
