L'Oréal Majirel Cool Cover Hair Colour for Cool-Toned, Anti-Brass Hair
Brass does not arrive on day one. It creeps in around week three, once the cool tones have washed down and the warmth underneath starts showing through, and by week five the colour reads as a different shade entirely.
Cool Cover is the version of Majirel built to hold that line. The formula is boosted with cool reflects, and L'Oréal rate the anti-brassiness effect at up to six weeks, which covers most of the gap between salon visits.
- Up to 100% grey coverage with true-to-tone results
- Strong neutralisation of unwanted warm and brassy tones
- Colour that resists fading rather than shifting warm as it goes
- Predictable enough to mix with confidence on a new client
The obvious use is on clients who have complained about going brassy before. It is a professional product, and the neutralising strength means matching the reflect to the base accurately matters more here than it does with a standard shade.

Application tips
Salon use. Mix with the developer at the ratio given in the product instructions, and carry out the allergy alert test the manufacturer specifies before every service, including on returning clients.
Apply to dry, unwashed hair, taking clean sections and working through the roots first. Time it from the moment the last section is covered rather than the first. Emulsify with a little water at the basin before shampooing out.
Results
Grey coverage runs to a full result rather than a translucent one, so white hair takes the same depth as everything around it instead of reading as a highlight.
The cool reflect does the second job. Warmth that would normally surface as a brassy cast through the mids gets held back, and the tone stays where it landed for longer rather than drifting orange as it fades.
