Henna colours differently to a chemical dye. It coats and stains the hair shaft rather than lifting it, so it will darken and enrich what you already have but it will not take you lighter.

Application tips
Henna stains whatever it touches, so lay a towel over your shoulders and keep an old flannel to hand.
Follow the pack for mixing and standing time, then apply with a brush in sections, starting at the roots where the grey shows and where the colour needs longest. Cover and leave it for the full time. Rinse with water first, and hold off shampooing until the next day so the shade settles.
Results
Henna sits on the hair rather than lifting it, so the result is a tone laid over your own colour instead of a replacement for it. Grey takes it strongly and ends up blended rather than uniform, which reads as natural.
The conditioning side is real; hair comes out thicker to the touch and shinier, because the coating adds a little body to every strand.
