40 volume is the strongest developer in normal use, and this is 250ml of it in cream form.

The cream base is the point. A liquid peroxide runs off the section and lifts unevenly. A cream stays where it is applied, which is how you get consistent lift across a whole head rather than hot roots and pale ends. Truzone is a UK salon staple for exactly that reason, and the conditioning agents in it are there to keep hair in usable condition while it processes.

  • Mixes with bleach for high lift
  • Mixes with permanent colour and high-lift tint
  • Cream base for controlled, even application
  • 250ml, sized for salon use rather than one application

Follow the mixing ratio on whatever you are pairing it with, work in clean sections, and watch it rather than timing it blind. At 12 percent this is professional strength, so a strand test is not optional and neither are gloves.

Application tips

Mix it with your bleach or permanent colour at the ratio that product specifies, in a non-metallic bowl, and use it straight away.

Forty volume is the strongest in the range and it is not a beginner's developer. Strand test before you commit to a full head, and patch test 48 hours ahead. Gloves throughout. Never near eyebrows or lashes, and never on the scalp when a gentler volume would do the job.

Results

The cream holds where you put it rather than running off the section, which is what makes a foil or a balayage placement workable.

Lift comes up evenly along the strand with no blotches where product has slid. At 40 vol the reaction is fast, so the timer matters more than usual. The 250 ml bottle is a size for occasional work rather than a busy salon week.
