Shea seals moisture into the cuticle, coconut oil gets further into the shaft, and between them they soften the hair enough that detangling stops costing you strands. Application tips
Rinse the hair through properly before any shampoo touches it. Textured hair takes longer to wet than it looks, and a dry patch will not get clean.
Work a palmful into the scalp with fingertips rather than nails, and let the runoff handle the lengths as you rinse. A second, smaller wash is worth it if you have been layering heavy butters. Save the detangling for the conditioner step, never bare shampooed hair.
Results
The lather is moderate rather than squeaky, which is what you want from a cleanser meant to leave something behind.
Hair comes out of the rinse soft to the touch instead of stripped, and the comb moves through the next step without dragging. On tight coils the difference shows up as less knotting while the hair shrinks. Scent is light and gone by the time everything has dried.
