The peppermint version is the one people buy for the cooling.

It is the same rich butter underneath, Jamaican black castor oil and shea butter carrying the moisture, with peppermint oil worked through for a tingle that lands the moment it touches the scalp. That cooling is the whole reason the variant exists. It turns a routine oiling session into something you can actually feel happening. On dry, thirsty hair it seals exactly as the plain butter does.

Massage it into the scalp in parts, then take whatever is left on your fingers through the lengths and ends. 4oz jar. If you find that sort of cooling uncomfortable, or you are applying it to a child, the plain or tea tree version will suit better.

Application tips

Patch test a small area of scalp first and give it a day. Peppermint is strong and not every scalp enjoys it.

If you get on with it, part the hair into rows, take a little on a fingertip and press it along each parting. Massage for a minute or two, then leave it in. Start at twice a week and go from there.

Results

There is a cool tingle for the first few minutes, then it settles down. A dry, tight scalp feels more comfortable afterwards and stays that way between washes.

On the hair itself the butter seals ends and stops them roughing up against clothing. The scent is sharp and clean rather than sweet, which some people much prefer in something they leave in.
