The Does It All Smoothie is a cream styler with enough body to handle dense hair and enough slip that it does not fight you going in. It shapes the texture without stiffening it, so curls hold their form and still feel like hair afterwards. Water, glycerin, glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate make up the base, which is a moisturising emulsion rather than a hold-first polymer blend.
The name is doing some work, though the logic behind it is sound. A cream styler carrying this much moisture can cover the moisturising step and the styling step in one pass, and on thick hair that is the part of a wash day worth shortening.
Apply it to clean, damp hair in sections and work it through with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb. From there it will carry curls, coils or a twist-out. The 16oz tub covers a wide span of textures, roughly 2A through 4A, which is why it turns up in so many different routines.
