No.0 is a primer, and understanding that is most of the point. It goes on before Olaplex No.3 rather than instead of it, and its job is to get more of the bond building chemistry into the hair before the Hair Perfector follows.
The technology is the patented bond building system Olaplex is known for. It targets the disulfide bonds inside the strand, the ones that give way under bleach, permanent colour, perms, heat tools and ordinary mechanical stress. That breakage is what leaves hair dry, brittle and quick to snap, so repairing it changes how the hair behaves rather than how it feels on the surface.
Use it ahead of No.3 rather than after it, and give it time to soak in properly before the next step goes on. 5 oz / 155 ml. If your hair has been through repeated colouring, this is the step that makes the rest of the system worth what it costs.

Application tips
Dry hair, not damp, and be generous with it. Saturate from the mid-lengths down, then work the rest through the roots, and comb so nothing is missed.
Let it sit for several minutes while it soaks in. No.3 then goes straight on top of it, with no rinsing in between, and only after that second layer has had its time does everything come off under the tap.
Results
On its own this one is quiet. It is a delivery step, so the visible change arrives once the Hair Perfector has followed it.
What you notice over a few rounds is elasticity: hair that stretches when wet instead of pinging apart, ends that hold up to a comb, and less of that dry, straw-like handle that comes with heavy lightening.
