Application tips
Prep decides how even this comes out. Cover your shoulders, pull the gloves on, and begin at the roots where the grey sits heaviest before working the colour down the lengths.
Comb it through so nothing is missed at the back of the head. Rinse thoroughly once the development time on the pack is up, then follow with conditioner. Run the patch test 48 hours ahead, on skin, not on hair.
Results
A level 4 brown, which is dark without tipping into black, so it stays believable on skin tones that a jet shade would wash out.
Coverage across the grey is solid, including the wiry ones at the parting that resist. The conditioning agents in the gel leave the hair feeling smoother than a dye alone usually does, and the finish has shine rather than the flat, matte look of cheap box colour.
