Sleek top knots, ponytails and pineapple styles need a gel that will actually hold the hairline down. This is the maximum-hold end of the Pomegranate and Honey range, in a 16oz tub, and it does that job as readily as it defines a wash and go.

It is alcohol free, which is the reason it holds without flaking or leaving the hair tacky. On thick type 4 hair it clumps and elongates the curl pattern. On a smoothed style it lays everything flat and keeps it there. The formula also leaves out parabens, sulfates, paraffins, mineral oil, synthetic colours and DEA.

Apply to wet or dry hair and rake it through with your fingers for a wash and go, then leave the curls alone while they set. To bring a style back on day two or three, mist lightly with water and the gel reactivates.
