Maxima 20 OxiCreme Professional Hair Colour Developer for Salon Professionals & Home Users 1000 ml/33.81 oz
Twenty volume is the workhorse developer, six percent peroxide, and it is what most permanent colour applications actually need. It gives modest lift while depositing tone, which makes it the right choice for grey coverage and for going darker or staying at the same level.
The texture is a cream rather than a liquid, so it mixes into colour or bleach powder without splitting and sits on the hair instead of running down the neck. A litre goes a long way, whether that is a busy colour room or a home colourist who buys once and works through it.
- Full grey coverage with permanent colour
- Going darker, or staying level on level
- Refreshing mid-lengths and ends where tone matters more than lift
- Mixing with bleach powder when only a gentle lift is wanted
Mix to the ratio your colour manufacturer specifies rather than guessing, and always patch test. 1000 ml / 33.81 oz.

Application tips
For a full head of grey, put the mix on the root area first and leave the mid lengths alone for the first twenty minutes, then comb what is left through to the ends for the remainder of the development time.
Mix fresh in the bowl each time. Once colour and peroxide meet the reaction starts, and a bowl left standing loses strength. Whatever is left over goes down the sink, never back into the bottle.
Results
Six per cent does the two things permanent colour needs at once. It opens the cuticle enough for pigment to sit inside the strand, and it lifts the natural pigment a level or so, which is what stops a fresh application looking darker than the swatch.
Resistant grey along the hairline takes colour evenly. The cream body means the mix sits on a section long enough for the development time to actually count.
