It is a styling gel first. The hold is strong enough to keep definition through the day on hair that is dense and inclined to go its own way. What separates it from a hard-setting gel is the finish. It is meant to dry crunch-free, so curls stay soft to the touch rather than setting into a shell you have to scrunch out.
Work it through soaking wet hair in sections rather than waiting until the hair has begun to dry, because a gel with this much hold does not travel well through damp curls. Then leave them alone while they dry, since touching a style halfway through is what puts the frizz back.
Alongside definition and frizz control it adds softness and a bit of body, which stops the whole style reading flat. The tub is 340 g, or 12 oz on the label.
