Manic Panic Semi-Permanent Hair Color Cream - Vibrant Atomic Turquoise for Expressive Hair Artistes 118ml
Atomic Turquoise is the blue-green in the Manic Panic range that lands closest to genuine turquoise rather than drifting into teal or aqua. On a pale base it reads bright and slightly electric. On anything darker it goes moody and much closer to green.
- Semi-permanent direct dye, so there is no developer and no mixing
- Vegan and cruelty free, approved by PETA
- Conditions while it deposits, unlike a peroxide dye
- 118ml tub, enough for streaks or a short full head
Manic Panic has been making these since 1977 and the formula has not needed much changing. It deposits pigment straight onto the hair with no ammonia, peroxide or PPD involved, so the colour is a coating rather than a chemical change. That is also why it fades: every wash takes some of it away, and the fade is gradual and even rather than patchy.
Get the base as light as you can stand before you apply it. Turquoise on properly pre-lightened hair is the version everyone posts online.

Application tips
Wear gloves and mean it. Turquoise pigment sits in the cuticles of your fingers for days and will show up in every photograph you take that week.
Apply to dry hair with a tint brush, coating each piece all the way round rather than painting one side. Leave it on for half an hour at least, longer if you want depth, then rinse with cool water only.
Results
On a pale blonde base the colour lands bright and slightly green-leaning, closer to a swimming pool than to sky.
The cream conditions as it sits, so hair comes out of the rinse feeling softer than it went in, which is unusual for anything that changes colour this much. It fades down through mint and then to a pale wash rather than dropping out patchy.
