Deep Purple Dream gives two quite different results depending on what you put it on. Over pre-lightened hair it is a rich, saturated violet. Over dark hair it settles into a deep aubergine that catches purple in the light rather than announcing itself.
Both are worth having, and the second is the reason to consider this shade if you are not planning to bleach. The formula is the classic Manic Panic one, a direct dye with no ammonia, no peroxide and no PPD, so it deposits colour without lifting anything, and it conditions the hair while it sits. Hair usually comes out softer than it went in.
It is semi-permanent, so it fades a shade at a time across a few weeks and can be topped up whenever it starts to look tired. The 118ml pot covers a full head on short to mid-length hair, or several rounds of streaks. Best for anyone testing a colour before committing to it.

Application tips
Porous ends grab purple hard. If yours are bleached and the roots are not, apply to the mid-lengths first and take the ends last, giving them ten minutes rather than forty.
Otherwise it is a straightforward dry-hair application. Brush it on, comb through, cover, wait. Rinse without shampoo, and leave the first proper wash for two or three days.
Results
Pre-lightened hair takes it as a saturated violet. On darker hair the effect is subtler, a red-purple cast that shows up in sunlight.
The cream base leaves hair soft and easy to comb once rinsed. Purple is among the faster fading shades, moving through a dusty lilac before it goes, so plan a top-up every few weeks if you want it strong.
