The Magic Collection Spandex Dome Cap is a plain, well-made version of the thing. The spandex blend stretches to the head and holds flat, so there is no bump at the crown and no line at the nape, and the surface is snag-free, so your own hair comes out the way it went in. It breathes rather than sealing everything in, which is what makes it wearable across a full day.
Braid or flatten your own hair down first, then put the cap over the top of it. The cap holds what you have already set rather than setting it for you, and skipping that step is the usual reason a unit sits higher on one side of the head than the other.
It works as a foundation for a weave install and as an everyday base under a wig. Nothing clever about it, and that is rather the point of a foundation.

Application tips
Get the hair contained first, cornrowed or brushed back and pinned, then stretch the cap on from the forehead backwards.
Settle the edge behind the hairline and press out any ridge across the crown with the flat of the hand before the unit goes on. Wig makers can block it and pin the edge for construction. Hand wash in cool water, reshape while damp, dry flat.
Results
The base disappears. Nothing rides up at the edge, nothing prints through a parting, and a unit sits where you placed it instead of tilting by mid-afternoon.
Hair underneath is held still rather than shifted about every time the wig moves, and warm air escapes through the weave, so twelve hours in it is realistic. It returns to its original shape after a wash, so the second one is a long way off.
