It is also the shade most likely to be sitting under a home colour that has drifted. Repeated colouring builds pigment on the ends and leaves the roots lighter, and a neutral level 5 evens that out in one pass instead of widening the gap.
5.0 is the shade people reach for when they want their own colour back rather than a new one. It covers grey fully, evens out a base gone patchy from previous colouring, and holds for up to eight weeks. The high shine step in the kit is what stops mid browns going flat, which is the usual complaint about box colour at this level.

Application tips
Work along the parting and out in sections, roots first, on dry hair that has not been washed that morning. The allergy alert test comes ahead of all of it.
Near the end of the development time, comb the colour through to the ends so the tone matches. Rinse until clear, then condition. Leave the next shampoo until the following day rather than the same evening.
Results
Grey goes completely, which is the main reason people reach for a 5.0, and it goes without leaving that blended, slightly lighter streak.
The brown keeps some warmth without turning brassy. Gloss is the giveaway that it is fresh, and it lasts. Texture stays soft after colouring rather than going coarse, which is usually what makes a home dye obvious.
