The comb is the part that makes this work. Colour is dispensed through the teeth as you pull it through, so you are combing the grey down rather than painting sections and hoping the coverage came out even.
Touch of Gray is designed to reduce grey rather than remove it. Leave it on briefly and you get a light blend, leave it longer and it goes darker. That control is why it does not announce itself the way a full-coverage dye can, because there is no hard border between what was grey and what was not.

Application tips
Dry hair, no shampoo beforehand. Mix the two tubes into the comb chamber and shake as the instructions say, then work in sections.
Start at the temples where grey shows first and draw the comb through slowly, root to tip. Five minutes gives a light blend. Push closer to ten for a deeper result, but not on a first attempt. Rinse until the water clears, then towel dry. Gloves on, and keep it off the skin at the hairline.
Results
Grey thins out rather than vanishing. What is left reads as natural variation instead of a solid block of colour, which is the point of the format.
The change is gradual enough that colleagues notice something without identifying what. Because the timing is under your control, you can stop at a salt-and-pepper look or push toward fuller coverage over a few applications. Hair feels conditioned rather than dry afterwards, and the shade sits close to natural black rather than looking painted on.
