Application tips
Run the patch test ahead of time, every single time, however familiar the brand is.
Then mix at the ratio given on the pack and start at the roots, leaving those the longest, since new growth takes colour more slowly than the lengths. Pull the mix through the ends for the last few minutes only. Rinse until the water runs clear and skip shampoo that day.
Results
Grey is covered rather than softened, so the coverage is solid instead of translucent at the temples.
The shade lands as a neutral mid brown with no red or ash pulling through, and it stays that way for weeks rather than turning warm after a few washes. Hair keeps a decent gloss afterwards, which permanent colour does not always leave behind.
