Fifty millilitres is a tube rather than a kit, which suits root touch-ups and anyone who has done this often enough to know exactly what they need. 4.0 is a true mid brown with nothing warm or ashy pulling it off centre.
It is permanent, so grey goes completely rather than being softened, and the pigment holds its depth through washing instead of dropping warm after a fortnight. The shade staying where it landed is the part that decides whether home colour looks home-done.
Reach for it to cover grey, put a natural brown back after a colour has faded, or take a lighter base down a level or two.
