Dexe Argan Speedy Hair Colour Shampoo Instant Black Hair Dye 420ml/14.2 oz
Speed is the selling point. This is an ammonia-free black colour in a shampoo format, so the whole thing happens in the shower in a few minutes rather than over an afternoon with foils and a mixing bowl.
Argan oil is worked into the formula, which softens the finish and stops the hair feeling as coarse as a straight dye can leave it. On textured and curly hair that matters, because dye and dryness compound each other quickly. Grey coverage is the main use. It blends the greys back into a solid black across the whole head, which is why people tend to buy it on a repeat cycle rather than as a one-off.
Colour shampoos of this kind darken hair rather than lifting it, so the result on a very grey head is a solid black rather than a natural blend of tones. If you want dimension you will not find it here. What you get is coverage, quickly.
The 420ml bottle covers several applications. Patch test before the first use, wear gloves, and keep a barrier cream along the hairline unless you enjoy scrubbing your forehead.

Application tips
Start on wet hair with gloves on. Lather it in the way you would any shampoo, making sure the greys at the temples and parting get properly saturated, since those are the strands that show if you rush.
Give it the few minutes the pack specifies, then rinse thoroughly and condition. Keep a dark towel handy for the first wash or two, because any surface pigment left behind will come off on a pale one.
Results
Grey goes to a rich black in one wash, blended rather than blocked in, so the finish reads as hair colour instead of a helmet. Argan oil in the base means the lengths come out soft rather than roughened, which is the usual complaint after a home tint.
There is no ammonia sting, and the hair keeps enough movement that curls still read as curls afterwards.
Composition
- Argan Oil
- Softens the lengths so a colouring step does not leave hair rough
