Papaya Hair Treat is the repair end of the Dark & Lovely fruit range, a 13oz mask for textured hair that has been handled hard.
Aloe vera and botanical extracts do the hydrating, vitamin E and antioxidants cover the hair against everyday environmental wear, and a set of moisture-locking polymers hold the water in the strand once it is there. Essential oils round out the conditioning. It is a 3-in-1 formula, so the tub stretches across a rinse-out conditioner, a longer deep treatment and a leave-in, depending on what the wash day actually needs.
Apply it evenly and concentrate on whatever is worst, which is usually the last few inches. If you are wearing braids or a weave, work it down to the scalp rather than over the top of the style. Expect softer hair, less breakage and a bit more shine, on curls, coils and everything in between.

Application tips
Warm the tub between your hands for a minute if it has been sitting somewhere cold, since a stiff mask drags on the hair.
Apply in four sections with the hair wet, twist each one up out of the way, and only then start the clock. Fifteen minutes is enough for a normal wash, thirty for hair that has had a hard month. Rinse thoroughly and skip your usual conditioner.
Results
Roughness goes first. Run a hand down a section afterwards and it moves without catching, which is the plainest sign the surface has been smoothed rather than coated.
Hair holds its moisture for longer between washes, ends look less see-through, and coloured lengths pick up a bit of depth again. It behaves best as a weekly habit rather than a one-off.
