Order of work: protector gel first, then mix the relaxer cream and activator until the colour is completely uniform, which is the signal it is ready. Uneven mixing is the usual cause of patchy results, so give it longer than feels necessary.

Application tips
Leave the hair alone for a few days beforehand, no scratching and no washing, because a relaxer finds every scratch on a scalp.
Apply the protector first, then work in four sections and keep the cream off the skin as far as you can. On fine hair, watch the clock at the short end of the range rather than the long one. Rinse for longer than feels necessary, then condition before a comb goes near it.
Results
Straightened hair that still has some life in it is the aim, and the fine hair strength is what keeps it there.
Texture releases evenly, shine returns once the hair is conditioned, and it should feel soft rather than squeaky when dry. Handled properly there is far less of the snapping at the nape and hairline that a stronger formula causes on delicate hair.
