Intensive red is the boldest shade in the Exotic Shine line, and it does what the name says. At 7.6 it is a clear, saturated red rather than a subtle auburn, so go in expecting to be noticed.
Reds are demanding on hair, which is where the rest of the formula matters. Two argan oil treatments run through the colouring process, deeply conditioning the hair while the dye is working, and Strengthening Micro-Sphere Technology penetrates the shaft to guard against the dryness and breakage that come with permanent colour. It also gives up to 100% grey coverage, so the red comes out even across the head rather than patchy where the greys were.
Strand test first, particularly if your hair is porous or previously coloured, since red takes unevenly on damaged sections. After colouring, wash less often and use cool water, because red pigment is the first thing to go down the drain.

Application tips
Reds go on best where the hair is a similar depth all over. If your ends are lighter than your roots, they will take more pigment and end up darker, so a strand test from the underneath is worth the ten minutes. Apply quickly and evenly, cover, then rinse with cool water only. Save shampoo for the day after and use a colour-safe one from then on.
Results
A saturated red that reads as red rather than as auburn or copper, and it stays that way in artificial light, which is where a lot of reds go brown.
Fading is inevitable on any red, so expect to refresh sooner than you would a brown. The hair itself comes through it in reasonable shape, since the argan runs alongside the dye rather than after it.
