Argan oil from Morocco and Strengthening Micro-Sphere Technology mean the colour goes down while the hair gets conditioning at the same time. Application is standard box-colour procedure. Mix, apply to dry hair starting at the roots, leave it for the stated time, then rinse and condition. Where a soft black differs from a lighter shade is the margin for error, which is much smaller, since a dark permanent colour is difficult to lift back out once it is in. It covers grey fully and holds its tone rather than drifting to a dull brown after a few washes. Application tips
Soft black is a level 3 rather than a true 1, so it is the sensible choice if you have never coloured before and are not sure black will suit you.
Patch test 48 hours ahead. Apply to dry, unwashed hair, greys first if you have them concentrated at the front. Full development time, no shortcuts, then rinse until the water runs clear rather than stopping when it turns pale.
Results
Black with a brown undertone rather than the blue-black of a level 1, which keeps it from looking painted on and makes the regrowth line softer when it arrives.
Grey disappears completely. Shine is the notable part, since dark shades show every bit of surface condition and this one comes out reflective rather than dull. Depth holds until the roots start showing.
