A cream shampoo behaves differently from a clear one. It lathers, but the lather is soft and low, and the base is conditioning enough that hair skips the brief squeaky stage in the shower. Cantu's runs to 400ml, which is a lot of shampoo for the money. It is aimed at two groups who usually have to compromise: people with natural texture who want a real wash without the dryness, and people with colour who want to keep it. Sulphate-free cleansing serves both, lifting build-up, dirt and excess oil while leaving the hair's own moisture more or less intact. Regular use also means less breakage at the point where hair is most fragile, which is wet and being handled.
How you apply it changes the result more than people expect. Cream shampoos do not spread well through dry, packed hair, so soak everything thoroughly first, part it into four, and work the product in at the scalp of each section. You get a better clean and use less of it.
Good on curls, coils and colour-treated hair. If you clarify, do it separately. This is the maintenance wash, not the reset.

Application tips
Soak the hair first, since a cream shampoo needs water to spread. Apply at the scalp in rows, massage with fingertips, and let the lather run down rather than scrubbing the lengths.
One round on a normal week, two after heavy styling. Rinse until the hair feels clean under the fingers rather than slick.
Results
Buildup comes off without the tight, stripped feeling that follows a foaming wash. Colour holds its depth for longer between salon visits.
Curls stay soft and clumped through the rinse, so the detangle afterwards is short. The scalp feels properly cleared rather than merely rinsed, and the hair does not squeak when you press a section between your fingers.
