The Cantu Coil Calm Detangler exists for the ten minutes of wash day that most people dread. Knots in coily hair do not come out with force, they come out with lubrication, and this is built around pure shea butter to give combs and fingers something to glide on. Less force means less snapped hair at the mid-lengths, which is where breakage tends to show up first.

Best on 2A through 3C, and on damp hair rather than dry. Work in four sections, apply, wait a moment, then start at the ends and move upwards with a wide-tooth comb. Never start at the roots, whatever the product.

Application tips
Saturate rather than sprinkle. Coily hair needs enough product that the comb has something to move through, so apply generously and give it thirty seconds to soften the knots before you touch them.
Fingers first on the worst tangles, comb second. Rinse it out or leave it in depending on where you are in wash day. Both work.
Results
Knots loosen instead of tightening under the comb, and the whole detangling session takes a fraction of the time it usually does.
Less hair comes away in the comb, which is the point of the exercise. Afterwards the cuticle is smoother, so there is noticeably less frizz once hair dries, and the length feels conditioned rather than roughed up.
