A balm scrub behaves differently to a wet one. There is no water in it, so the sugar stays intact until it hits your skin, and the oils stay on the skin after the sugar has dissolved. You come out of the shower moisturised rather than stripped.

Camille Rose build this one on caramelised cane sugar, and the scent is the first thing you notice. The grains are fine enough to use on the face as well as the body, lifting dead surface cells so tone looks more even and skin catches the light better. What is left behind is soft and supple rather than tight.

Work it over damp skin in circles, concentrating on rough patches, then rinse. The oils will leave a light film, so pat dry rather than rubbing. Eight ounces is plenty, since a scrub twice a week is more useful than a scrub every day.

Application tips

Skin first, water second. Scoop a small amount onto damp skin and work it in slow circles over knees, elbows, heels and anywhere that feels rough, keeping the pressure light so the grains do the work rather than your hands.

Rinse warm and pat dry instead of rubbing. Two or three times a week is plenty on the body, and less often anywhere thin or newly shaved.

Results

Rough patches come away and skin reads smoother straight afterwards, with an even tone where flakiness had been dulling it.

The balm leaves an emollient film behind, so there is none of the tight, stripped feeling a plain scrub gives you. Softness is the part that lasts, and body lotion afterwards sinks into a clean surface rather than sitting on top of dead skin.

The full INCI is printed on the pack. We publish it here as soon as the brand supplies it, and we will read it off the bottle for you if you ask.
